Event Debrief: Representing Human Trafficking Survivors

On February 2, 2017, PAABA members attended Representing Human Trafficking Survivors, hosted by Fenwick & West, API Legal Outreach and Tahirih Justice Center.

The presentation provided an overview of human trafficking and some of the key issues involved in assisting survivors.  Among other things, the panelists walked through the process of securing T Visas, including (a) client interviews, (b) research and (c) completion of forms. Following that, the panelists offered a broad array of volunteer opportunities that could fit with widely varying volunteer schedules, including both on-site and remote work options.  (The panelists emphasized that projects do not necessarily require a commitment to the issuance of the visa, just aid with the application process).

Individuals interested in volunteering can contact API Legal Outreach, Tahirih Justice Center.  Fenwick is also organizing volunteers through its own office.
