About the Palo Alto Area Bar Association
The Palo Alto Area Bar Association offers membership to attorneys who live, work, or are otherwise interested in the practice of law in Menlo Park, Atherton, Woodside, Portola Valley through Palo Alto, Los Altos and Mountain View.
PAABA's goals are expressed both on the “macro” and “micro” levels. The large picture includes PAABA's Lawyer Referral Service , which provides legal assistance to a diverse clientele and continuing education courses for lawyers. On the smaller scale, PAABA's aim is to enrich and interact with the local communities. For example, for over ten years PAABA has conducted a golf tournament at Stanford benefiting the organizations which provide free legal services to residents of East Palo Alto and Eastern Menlo Park.
In addition, following the spirit of giving, PAABA collects donations for the Ecumenical Hunger Project. Also, each year, PAABA attorneys conduct “Community Law Night”, a free drop in legal clinic open to anyone in Palo Alto and the surrounding communities. Palo Alto attorneys also participate in an award-winning “Lawyers in the Classroom” program. In this program, lawyers go to local high schools to facilitate energetic and collegial debates by high school students regarding constitutional law issues.
PAABA is unique and distinguished from other county bar associations in its twin aims of local service and fostering attorney camaraderie.
